Yoga’s Seven Chakras

? If you practice yoga, knowing the seven chakras is very important.
Chakras help you feel a sense of oneness with your body. There are seven different chakras to provide a sense of calmness when doing yoga. The meaning of Chakra in English is ‘wheel’ or ‘cycle’. The Hindu religion considers the entire body to be made of seven spirals or wheels of energy that beginning at the spine’s base and move to the head’s crown. Each of these represents a different body part and emits a dissimilar light. It is important to increase your knowledge of these Chakras so you can reach yoga’s master level. Once you have these mastered, you will receive harmony and peace to your body and mind.
Root yoga Chakra or Muladhara begins at the spine’s base. This is also associated with the color red. This helps you uphold a balanced, centered and grounded life. You can achieve this Muladhara by using standing posture and eating enriched foods.
Sacral yogaChakra or Svadhistana rests at the lower abdominal area just below your naval. This helps connect the user with their reproductive and creative aspects. The element for the sacred yoga Chakra is water and associates with the color orange.
Power yoga Chakra or Manipura is located in your belly. This helps with your personal power and gives you a sense that you are in control of your destiny. The element for this yoga pose is fire and is associated with the colors of gold and yellow. This helps control your anger.
Love yoga Chakra, or Anahata is right in the center of your heart, regulating your emotions of love or intuition. This is associated with the color green and works with backward bend postures or chest opening postures.
Communication yoga Chakra or Vishuddha is positioned in your throat for the center of your communication. Fruits are associated with this yoga pose as well as the color blue. Poses for this include neck and shoulder poses and stretches.
Intuition yoga Chakra or Ajna is located between your eyes. This is associated with the color purple and works as the yogi’s inner intuition.
Divine yoga Chakra, or Sahasrara, works as a connection with divinity and is at your head’s crown. This is represented by the color white and connects to your soul and meditation works with this yoga pose.
